The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician-educator track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of endocrine and oncologic surgery with a focus on general procedures in that field. Responsibilities include endocrine, oncologic and general surgical patient care; instruction and supervision of medical students and surgery residents; and clinical and/or basic science research in topics related to endocrine or oncologic surgery. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. They must also be certified by the American Board of Surgery or eligible for such certification.
This position will be full-time and based at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Philadelphia, with secondary duties at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. It offers excellent benefits, liberal vacation time and sick and educational leave. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience; personal malpractice insurance coverage is not required. Applicants with laparoscopic surgical experience will be preferred.
A current unrestricted M.D. license to practice medicine in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia is required. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and proficient in spoken and written English, and they must meet physical requirements as well as completing a security background investigation.
