The Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Associate or Assistant Professor positions in either the non-tenure clinician-educator track or the tenure track. Track and rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of trauma, surgical critical care and emergency surgery. Responsibilities include patient care in these fields; supervision and instruction of residents, fellows and medical students; clinical and/or basic science research and outcome studies; and participation in program development and implementation. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. They must also be certified for general surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery or eligible for such certification.
Successful candidates will be expected to support and expand all aspects of the clinical Acute Care Surgery field at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and also participate in performance improvement activities. Applicants with fellowship training in trauma surgery and/or surgical critical care will be preferred. Candidates considered for a tenure-track appointment must hold a PhD and provide evidence of strong research skills.
