Keynote Speaker: Ms. Leila Zerrougui

Leila Zerrougui Ms. Leila Zerrougui was appointed Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict at the Under Secretary-General level in September 2012. In this capacity, she serves as a moral voice and independent advocate to build awareness and give prominence to the rights and protection of boys and girls affected by armed conflict.

Conference topics

Violence occurs in every country in the world, has devastating effects on the health and well-being of children, and negatively affects their ability to learn and their social and emotional development. Violence is often deeply rooted in cultural, economic and social practices and inhibits the potential for children to contribute to society. This conference will seek to explore: 

• The global developmental and psychosocial consequences of violence against children
• The global response to violence against children 
• The long-term implications of violence for children, and society as a whole
• Tools for professionals who work with children exposed to violence

Through expert faculty presentations, a keynote address and interactive panel discussions, this conference will provide conference attendees opportunities to understand the global reality and response to violence against children. Tools for clinicians working with children exposed to violence will also be explored.

Call for Posters

The organizing committee invites you to submit an abstract for the annual poster session at the Pediatric Global Health Conference.

The poster session will provide a forum to share research and programs in the growing field of Global Health.

Requirements for Submission:

• Abstracts featuring research, clinical work, or programs with a focus in Global Health will be considered. Projects may be in various stages of development.
• The poster session is open to students, researchers and clinicians.
• Posters may be no larger than 4’X6’ (48” X 72”).
• Please submit a 250 word abstract to globalhealth@email.chop.edu no later than Friday, September 20th, 2013.

Selected participants will be notified by October 1, 2013.

*Please note that by submitting an abstract you are acknowledging that one of the listed authors will be present at the conference to represent the poster at the conference. Submitting an abstract does not register you for the meeting. To register, click here.
