Retirement Information

To enter retirement after an active academic life requires important personal decisions, careful planning, and often major adjustments to one's lifestyle. This web page attempts to provide essential information and suitable links to help with the matter.

"Hitchhicker's Guide to Faculty Retirement" addresses many of the relevant topics. The original guide was prepared by members of PASEF and ASEF and was released in March 2008. Below is a link to the updated and revised 2009 version of the guide. We recommend that you download this document (PDF Format, 29pages, 1.4MB ) and use it as a "Source Book, in conjunction with selections from the "Handbook for Faculty and Academic Administration".

Martin Pring's "ASEF Perspectives on Planning for Retirement" offer additional insights. Both titles are available by clicking on the Links below, as are the other listed items, including the Resources and FAQ sections.

Lastly, ASEF offers lectures, seminars, and discussion sessions as a part of their Education Program (see Listing of Events)
