CNPscore is a set of command-line software utilities for automated scoring of data produced by the computerized neuropsychological (CNP) tasks developed within the BBL that run in the PowerLab program developed by Doug Chute. This software package was developed by and is maintained by Paul Hughett). Since CNPscore was developed primarily for our own use, and the tests that it scores run only on a rapidly obsolesing platform, we cannot promise to provide support for CNPscore. We are, nevertheless, open to suggestions for improvement, and reports of bugs, though we may not have time to do anything about them. Since this package includes the source code, you do have the option of hiring a programmer to make the particular changes that you need; if so, we would appreciate the changes so that we can consider them for inclusion in our master copy.
Please read through the license for CNPscore. You may then find and download both the source code, and documentation for the installation and use of this set of utilities located in the Download section below.
We are distributing this code under an open source license (which permits free modification and distribution) for several reasons. First, we believe that software is a form of scientific knowledge and that science advances most rapidly when we can build on each other's work rather than re-implementing the wheel. We hope that the people who find our software useful will reciprocate by contributing bug fixes and other improvements to be folded back into our master copy for future releases. Second, we find that we write better software when we expect that dozens of people will be reading our code than when we are writing just for ourselves. Finally, we would rather spend our time doing science rather than trying to monitor and enforce a more restrictive license.
