the application process

Thank you for your interest in the 2012 Built Environment Assessment Training (BEAT-Plus) Institute. We welcome all applicants, but please be aware that the process is competitive. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the BEAT Institute staff for more information.

Requirements for applications will remain the same.

Selection criteria:

  1. Background and skills relevant to the Institute
  2. Fit with career goals and activities
  3. Opportunity to use training and skills learned in future research
  4. Letter(s) of recommendation
  5. Diversity of entire pools of applicants - geographic, interest (nutrition v. physical activity), target population of research, racial/ethnic background, etc.

The 2012 BEAT-Plus Institute will be hosted at Harvard University in Boston, MA from June 24-29, 2012.

The application deadline is February 1, 2012. All applicants will be notified of decision by March 28, 2012. Selected applicants are required to confirm acceptance of selection within 2 weeks of notification.

Important Deadlines

The application deadline is February 1, 2012, and all applicants will be notified of selection by March 28, 2012.
Submitted applications will be reviewed and applicants will be notified by email. Selected participants will receive the BEAT Institute course schedule and information regarding travel and lodging.
