Fluorescence Spectroscopy (FS)

Biophysical and biochemical systems have many natural fluorophores such as tryptophans, flavins, NAD, bilins and chlorophylls and can be modified to add fluorophores.  Fluorophore spectra, lifetimes and quenching monitor conformation changes, interactions with ligands, electron transfer and redox reactions as well as excitation energy transfer.

  • Horiba Fluorolog 3 with polarization anisotropy and time-correlated single photon counting lifetime measurements. LED sources for lifetime measurements current include NanoLED 280 nm, 1.1 ns; NanoLED 405 nm, 200 ps; NanoLED 450 nm, 1.1 ns.
