Penn Humanities Forum: Medicine at the Margins (4/13)

Watch this Penn Humanities Forum talk from the Penn Musuem on April 17 that seeks to answer, "What are the practical and ethical challenges of taking medical practices and technologies developed in metropolitan centers and extending them into remote communities where modern health care resources are scarce?" The talk features Harvey Friedman, MD, Director, Botswana-UPenn Partnership, and Professor of Medicine, Perelman School of Medicine; Steven Feierman, Professor of History and History & Sociology of Science, University of Pennsylvania; and Julie Livingston, Associate Professor of History, Rutgers University. George W. Bush Visit to the Botswana-UPenn Partnership (7/12)

From Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, visited the Botswana-UPenn Partnership’s See-and-Treat cervical-cancer clinics in Gaborone, Botswana, July 5, when he was there to announce an expansion of women’s health initiatives. See photos and read more here.

2001-2011: Ten Years of Penn in Botswana (10/11)

The Botswana-UPenn Partnership celebrated our ten year anniversary on the University of Pennsylvania campus the week of October 10 and in Botswana on November 10. Pictures from the celebrations are available through the photos link below. Video of the full presentations from our Ten Year Anniversary Symposium held October 14 is available for viewing online. We received a congratulatory letter from Penn President, Dr. Amy Gutmann, a copy of which can be seen here. We also were pleased to have the Honorable G.U.S. Matlahabaphiri, the Assistant Minister of Health of Botswana, give a speech at out Ten Year Event in Gaborone.
