The Biomedical Postdoctoral Council (BPC) and the Office of Biomedical Postdoctoral Programs (BPP) are pleased to announce:
10th Annual Postdoctoral Research Symposium

The symposium includes the following events:
- Poster Sessions and Oral Presentations, featuring research talks by BPP postdocs
- Awards for the best posters and oral presentations
- Keynote Lecture: Dr. J. Larry Jameson, Dean of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and Executive Vice President of the University for the Health System
This FREE event is a great way to practice your presentation skills and to learn about your fellow postdocs’ research. All post-docs served by the Biomedical Postdoctoral Council (BPC) and Office of Biomedical Postdoctoral Programs (BPP) are welcome to present, and all members of the university community are welcome to attend. All accepted abstracts will be published on the BPC website. We look forward to reviewing your abstracts!

I. Rules and Guidelines for abstract submission
The abstract submission deadline has passed. We look forward to poster or oral presentations from more than 70 postdocs! Postdocs who submitted abstracts will be notified of their presentation time by August 26th.
II. Information for Poster Sessions
General Information for all Poster Session Presenters:
- All information should be presentated so that life scientists from a wide range of backgrounds can understand your research.
- All poster boards will be set up in the lobby of BRBII/III.
- The dimensions of your poster cannot exceed4 feet by4 feet. Push pins will be provided to display each poster
- At the top of each poster board, there will be a number. Please match your abstract number to the number on the poster board
- When preparing your poster, please remember that faculty and postdoc judges will be evaluating your work and selecting award winners. Poster presentations will be judged for clarity, visual impact, and oral presentation.
- Two prizes for the best posters will be awarded after the keynote lecture.
III. Information for Oral Sessions
General Instructions for all Oral Session Presenters
- All information should be presentated so that life scientists from a wide range of backgrounds can understand your research.
- A moderator will be present in each room to handle any questions and help organize that session.
- There will 10 min allocated for each talk, followed by 5 min for questions. Time limits for each talk will be strictly enforced to make sure that the program stays on schedule. A warning buzzer will sound after 10 min and the final buzzer at 15 min.
- You must be in the BRB Auditorium at least 20 minutes before your session is scheduled to begin. This will enable the moderator to check your presentation on the A/V equipment.
- Please bring your presentation on a USB drive or CD-ROM for easy loading onto the A/ department’s laptop. The laptops/systems used by the A/V department are PC-based.
- Laptops, laser pointers, projectors and other A/V equipment will be provided. If you require any special equipment (i.e. overhead projector), please inform us at least one week before the symposium, so that we can have the equipment ready.
- A prize will be given for the best oral presentation.
- Your mentor, labmates, and anyone else who would like to support you are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Prizes will be awarded for the best oral and poster presentations. Judges’ decisions are final and binding. Awards will be presented at the end of the symposium following the Keynote Lecture.
The 2011 Keynote Lecture will be delivered by Dr. J. Larry Jameson, Dean of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and Executive Vice President of the University for the Health System.
