Social Events Committee
Mission
Having an enjoyable social experience is indeed part of a successful postdoctoral appointment. As Penn postdocs, we are fortunate enough to live in a city that has a wide array of interesting activities and a diverse population of colleagues from all over the world. The mission of the BPC Social Activities Committee is to make use of these resources to contribute to the exchange of cultural experiences and knowledge while having fun at the same time.
Upcoming activities
Hike the Wissahickon Valley with the BPC! Take a break from the lab to enjoy the Wissahickon Creek and surrounding forest.
Saturday, June 18; 1:30 p.m.
Meet at the Wissahickon Transfer Center on Ridge Ave. in Roxborough/Manayunk.
We will hike northwest on a flat path along the creek and return via a more rugged trail through the woods.
All postdocs and their guests are welcome.

Notes:
** Please wear athletic-style shoes that cover your toes and your heels. Hiking boots or shoes are not necessary, but you can wear them if you have them.
** Please bring water to drink.
** Optional items you may want to bring: sunscreen, hat, bug spray, a snack.
**How to get there:
The Wissahickon Transfer Center is easily accessible via transit or car. Ten bus lines (1, 9, 27, 38, 61, 62, 65, 124, 125, and R) stop at the transfer center. We recommend buses 9, 124, 125, and 27 for those in University City and Center City. The Wissahickon train station, which is served by the Manayunk/Norristown regional rail line, is a very short walk from the transfer center. Those who drive can park in the free Wissahickon Station parking lot. Please see the SEPTA website (www.septa.org) for details about the buses, trains, and Wissahickon Station parking lot.
