Symposium Committee
Do you want to volunteer for BPC committee but are worried about a year-long time commitment?
Then this committee is perfect for you!
The Symposium committee is active from July through October and is responsible for organizing the annual Biomedical Postdoc Research Symposium, which is held each fall semester. The symposium features biomedical research conducted by PENN postdocs in the Schools of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Dental Medicine Nursing, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Monell Chemical Senses Center. This whole-day affair is open to the entire Philadelphia research community and has grown to more than 300 attendees. Both poster and oral presentations are scheduled throughout the symposium, and each year features a world renowned speaker for the Keynote Lecture and a PENN postdoc for the Kumar Memorial Lecture.
The BPC Symposium committee members help the Biomedical Postdoctoral Programs Office in all aspects of planning and implementing the annual symposium. This includes choosing and scheduling the Keynote Speaker, soliciting vendor and advertisement support, selecting and scheduling submitted abstracts for poster and paper presentations, compiling the abstract book, and organizing the coffee / food breaks throughout the day. We welcome new members to the committee and any feedback from past symposium attendees!
