Brady Chosen as 2018 Recipient of the Linda Pechenik Montague Investigator Award

Donita Brady was selected as the recipient of the 2018 Linda Pechenik Montague Investigator Award.  This award was created six years ago by philanthropist Linda Pechenik Montague to support the work of the most promising research faculty at the Perelman School of Medicine. The award will provide a total of $100,000 for the Brady lab to advance their research program.

The Brady Lab 2017 The V Foundation Scholar Award application was approved for funding to support studies to "Target Autophagy in KRAS-Driven Pancreatic Cancer via Copper Reduction".

Brady lab members (Jessica Blanchard, Gabriel Rodriguez Garcia, Danielle Greenberg, Gavin Bond, Julianne Davis, Caroline Davis, Jessica Posimo, and Tiffany Tsang) get together at Jones to celebrate a multitude of achievements from successful completion of the 1st year of both undergraduate and PhD programs, passing qualifying examinations, admission to medical school, graduation from undergrad, an upcoming wedding, and beyond. Congrats to everyone!

Brady Lab Members Participate in the 10th Annual University of Pennsylvania Department of Cancer Biology Retreat 

June 26-28, 2017

Caroline Davis, Jessica Posimo, and Julianne Davis presented their work on  "Characterizing Copper as a Modulator of PKM2 Activity and Cellular Function in Hepatocellular Carcinoma", “Interplay between Cu availability and autophagy induction in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma”, and "Perturbations in Cu delivery to MAPK pathway components in BRAF-mutation positive melanoma" at the 10th Annual University of Pennsylvania Department of Cancer Biology Retreat at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY.  Brady lab members found time to have fun and build on their teamwork in between scientific sessions and poster presentations.

Donita Brady was presented with the JBC/Herb Tabor Young Investigator Award at the FASEB Trace Elements in Biology Medicine meeting in Big Sky, MT.  The JBC/Hebert Tabor Young Investigator Award honors Tabor's invaluable contributions to JBC and to science as a whole.  The awards also recognize the innovators and achievers in new generations of researchers who exemplify Tabor's values of creativity and scientific excellence.

Donita Brady was selected along with 21 other exceptional early-career scientists as a Pew scholars in the biomedical sciences. The 2016 class of Pew biomedical scholars is drawn from prestigious institutions across the country, with each scholar receiving four years of flexible funding to pursue foundational, innovative research.
