Holly Barilla, MS

Holly Barilla, BSHolly currently runs multiple studies within the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program as well as the Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) involving patients who have circadian rhythm disorders, insomnia alone or insomnia and a history of depression or cancer, along with subjects with PTSD.  She currently focuses her time on a large Department of Defense/Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DOD/DARPA) funded project discovering biomarkers for PTSD in Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.  Holly graduated from Wagner College with a B.S. in Psychology and minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Studies. She received multiple awards for her charity work and involvement in the NYC community. She continued her education at the University of the Sciences of Philadelphia where she received her master's degree in Health Psychology.  Holly's master thesis focused on content analysis of nightmare data in Vietnam veterans. Holly began working as a coordinator at the PVAMC in 2007 primarily working with Vietnam era veterans on the treatment of nightmares associated with post-traumatic stress disorder using Imagery Rehearsal Therapy as well as a pilot with the men and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Holly is a certified CRC, phlebotomist and a member of the Sleep Research Society.  Holly has recently been nominated for a seat on the executive board of the University of Pennsylvania Society of Clinical Research Coordination and Management (Penn SCRCM).
