André Robert Lee, award-winning director, producer and activist BTG 2016 Annual Award Recipient

André Robert Lee is a producer and director whose filmography includes the documentaries “I’m Not Racist … Am I?”(2014) and “The Prep School Negro”(2012). He has worked with the New York City Public Schools, The Ford Foundation, NBC, PBS, Maysles, Miramax Films, Urbanworld, Film Movement, BET, Universal, HBO, Picturehouse, and Dreamworks. On speaking tours with his films, Lee has visited over 750 high schools, colleges, universities, churches, law firms and conferences, nationally and internationally. He received a fellowship in 2013 to direct and produce the 12-month series “Life Cycles of Inequity: A Colorlines Series on Black Men.” He also has received initial funding to develop a narrative feature film about the life of civil rights activist Bayard Rustin.
