Beth Winkelstein

Associate Professor, Bioengineering
Associate Professor, Neurosurgery

Dr. Winkelstein's research program focuses on understanding the biomechanical and cellular mechanisms that regulate painful injuries, via peripheral and central modifications in the nervous system. Her work investigates responses for injuries to neural and ligamentous tissues in the spine and musculoskeletal system. Dr. Winkelstein's work has been recognized by several honors, including the Whitaker Young Investigator Award and National Science Foundation CAREER Award, and the YC Fung Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineering.
