Michael F. Stiefel, M.D., Ph.D.

Michael Stiefel MD PhD

Dr. Stiefel received his MD and PhD from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his neurosurgery training at the University of Pennsylvania and completed a fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dr. Stiefel specializes in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery. He performs microsurgical and endovascular procedures for the treatment of cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformaitons (AVMs), arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs), carotid stenosis, intracranial stenosis, stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, stenting and bypass procedures.

His research interests include: Developing novel endovascular techniques for the treatment of cerebral aneurysms and ischemic stroke. In addition, he is studying the role of inflammation and coagulation in ischemic stroke and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
