Robert W. Neumar, M.D., Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine
Associate Director, Center for Resuscitation Science
Dr. Neumar is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Neumar’s research expertise is in the molecular mechanisms of neuronal injury caused by cardiac arrest, stroke, and head trauma. His focus is on the proteolytic pathways that contribute to neuronal damage after acute brain injury, particularly those mediated by calpain and caspase family proteases. In addition, his research involves the study of injury mechanisms related to disruption of neuronal calcium homeostasis.
