Rob Garfield MD
Dr. Garfield received psychiatric training at the University of Wisconsin (1971-74) and was the first Director of the Hahnemann University Masters of Family Therapy Program (1976-82). He has served on national boards and committees in family therapy organizations: AAMFT Training Directors Organization (1978-82), AFTA Board of Directors (Treasurer, 1988-90). He is currently an Advisory Editorial Board member of Family Process. Dr. Garfield is past President (1990-93) and current board member of Philadelphia Physicians for Social Responsibility. He maintains a private practice in Bala Cynwyd.
Nedra Fetterman, PhD
Dr. Fetterman graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brandeis University. She received an MSS in Social Service from Bryn Mawr and a PhD in Human Development, and did post-graduate work at The Council for Relationships and Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic. She is a certified Gestalt and Imago Therapist, serving as Dean of the Faculty of Imago Relationships International from 1998 - 2000, where she is currently a faculty member. She has lead psycho-educational workshops for couples in Philadelphia and around the country since 1991, and is also in private practice.
Wayne Jones, PhD
Wayne Jones, a licensed psychologist and founder of Bala Child & Family Associates, has over 30 years of experience in treating children, adolescents, couples, and families. He has extensive experience with couples who are in conflict around extended family issues, co-parenting issues, and work-family issues. Another source of common challenges for couples addressed by Dr. Jones involves difficult transitions such as getting married, becoming parents for the first time, blending families after re-marriage, or handling loss. Dr. Jones is the founder and Director of the Center for Family Based Training and holds an appointment as Clinical Associate Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania.
Carol Gantman, PhD
Carol Gantman is a licensed psychologist, practicing for more than 25 years in inpatient and outpatient settings. Her areas of specialization include working with divorcing families and with individuals and families dealing with eating disorders. Dr. Gantman is the co-founder of Health Forum, a psychology practice dedicated to the treatment of psychological issues related to medical conditions. She is also affiliated with The Renfrew Center, where she is involved in training and supervision, and she holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at Widener University. Previously, she was on the staff of Friends Hospital for almost 20 years. Dr. Gantman is certified as a group psychotherapist, an Imago couples therapist, and in the use of EMDR.
Joan Toborowsky, LCSW
Joan Toborowsky received her Masters in Social Services from Bryn Mawr College and post graduate training in couples and family therapy from Penn Council for Relationships. She has over 20 years experience treating couples and families at the Institute of the Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Friends Behavioral Health, and currently in private practice.
Nancy Gambescia, PhD
Nancy Gambescia, PhD completed her clinical training at the Council for Relationships (formerly Marriage Council of Philadelphia) and her doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a clinical associate in Psychiatry at the
Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and the Director of the post-graduate clinical program in Sex Therapy at Council for Relationships, Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Gambescia is an approved supervisor in American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, a member of the American Family Therapy Academy, Society for Sex Therapy and Research, and a certified sexologist and diplomate of the American Board of Sexology. She maintains a private practice in Rosemont specializing in individual, family, relationship and sex therapy.
Dr. Gambescia has coauthored four books: Erectile Dysfunction, Hypoactive Sexual Desire, Treating Infidelity, and Systemic Sex Therapy, in addition to multiple journal articles and chapters in textbooks which focus on relationship and sexual issues.
