IHSFC Fee Structure
The services and activities of the IHSFC are supported through three complementary mechanisms: the CEET, the CTSA, and service-based fee recovery from participating investigators. Since the IHSFC represents a Facility Core, it is expected that services rendered will be supported by the participating investigators. Such an approach promotes conservation and the responsible use of valuable resources and biospecimens. The Facility cores at PENN are non-profit and as such the recovery of fee-for-services rendered will be aimed only to cover costs. Importantly, the costs levied to investigators will be substantially discounted given the complimentary support provided by the CEET and the CTSA. This model fosters a pay-as-you-go and economy of volume approach that will increase accessibility while decreasing cost to investigators. The IHSFC serves as a cost center and investigators are invoiced for services rendered. The accounting and invoicing is performed through the business manager of the CEET. To foster career development of junior faculty (non-R01 awards) and trainees, the IHSFC Utilization Committee will work closely with the trainee and the mentor to meet their needs.
