Penn president mentions cegem during white house meeting with biden
brief summary
During a recent White House meeting with Vice President Joe Biden, University of Pennsylvania’s President Amy Gutmann, White House advisor John Holdren, and five other university presidents discussed research funding related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Gutmann mentioned the more than 400 Recovery Act funded grants that Penn researchers have secured as well as the hundreds of job opportunities that have been created by and funded through the stimulus-funded projects. As an example of one of the many projects being funded at Penn, Gutmann mentions CEGeM (Gutmann speaks 20:10 minute mark, CEGem at 22:15 minute mark). She discusses the potential impact CEGeM has on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer based on the markers of the human genome.
