INVESTIGATOR MEETING
June 7, 2011 - Two weeks ago, on May 26, 2011, the CEGeM investigators and staff gathered for our first “Investigator Day.” That Thursday morning and afternoon each project’s primary investigators discussed their current projects relating to the particular role of genomics research in nicotine addiction, breast cancer, NSCLC (Non-small cell lung cancer), Melanoma, and evidence synthesis relating to healthcare costs and genetic testing. The various discussions brought the entire CEGeM faculty and staff up to date and better acquainted with the progress of all the Center’s projects.
A major focus of the day was ensuring that the current research continues to focus on the translation of existing discoveries into the improvement of clinical practice. In order to help maximize the utility of this research the discussion focused on specific issues that still need to be addressed in order to realize these goals.
Overall the day was a great success and smaller, monthly investigator sessions are possibly in the works to further increase the communication and transfer of knowledge amongst the faculty and staff of CEGeM.
