Procurement of Fresh Specimens

Collection of fresh specimens from HIV infected or at-risk individuals is available upon request. Specimens that can be procured include large volumes of whole blood, apheresis products, gastrointestinal lymph tissue, semen, cervicovaginal lavage fluid, and stool for microbiome analysis. Assistance can also be provided to procure harder to obtain specimens such as cerebrospinal fluid, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, and lymph node biopsies. The Clinical Core has IRB approved informed consents that can be used for the collection of these specimens. Clinical Core personnel will obtain informed consent from volunteers, schedule the collection of the specimens, and oversee the transfer of the material to investigators directly or following processing of specimens by the Clinical Core Laboratory.

To request fresh specimens, please contact Debbie Gudonis directly to discuss your needs and the charges associated with the necessary procedures.
