The Penn Clinical/Therapeutics HIV Program includes active research programs related to in vivo HIV pathogenesis, antiretroviral therapy and its complications, HIV vaccines, gene therapy, adherence to therapy, factors associated with HIV transmission, pediatric and adolescent HIV infection, and HIV epidemiology and treatment in resource-limited settings. The University of Pennsylvania maintains the largest HIV clinical trials organization in the Delaware Valley, and includes NIH funded sites in the AIDS Clinical Trials Group and the HIV Prevention Trials Network, as well as many investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies.
