Margaret Clawson, MPH
Project Coordinator

Margaret Clawson is a NEMS Master Trainer and Project Coordinator for the Nutrition Environment Measures Survey (NEMS) as well as co-coordinator of the Built Environment Assessment Training Institute. She received her Master's degree in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a concentration in Health Behavior and Health Education. Before attending graduate school, Margaret was a Peace Corps volunteer in Guinea, West Africa. Her interests include participatory research, minority health, obesity prevention, and translation and dissemination of research. Some of her previous work areas include HIV care, HIV prevention, youth empowerment, lay health advisors and Latino health.

Annie

Annie Chung
Research Coordinator

Annie Chung is a Research Coordinator with the Center for Health Behavior Research and the UPenn Prevention Research Center (PRC). She is currently involved with the PRC Healthy Weigh Study, the Healthy Retail Solutions 2 Study, and the Prostate Cancer Community Engagement, Evaluation and Dissemination Core (Pro-CEED Core). Annie has a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Societies from the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Public Health. With over ten years of health research experience at the UPenn Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CCEB), she has conducted research in prostate cancer intervention, bone health, and health informatics. Annie is a lifelong Philadelphia resident and enjoys rediscovering the city, pottery, and being a brand new aunt.

Amber Cohen
Program Coordinator

Amber Cohen is a Program Coordinator with the Center for Health Behavior Research and theAdministrative and Infrastructure Core for the UPenn Prevention Research Center (UPenn PRC). Amber has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Richmond, with a focus on neurological psychology. When not in the office Amber is happy spending time with her family and her husband, Barry Isaac.

Sarah Green, MPH
Research Project Manager

Sarah Green is a Research Project Manager with the Center for Health Behavior Research and is involved with the UPenn Prevention Research Center (UPenn PRC) and the Community Engagement and Research Core (CEAR Core) of the Penn CTSA.  Sarah earned a Master’s degree in Public Health from Emory University, with a concentration in Behavioral Science and Health Education. Some of her research interests include obesity prevention, health promotion, community health, and translation and dissemination of research. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband, Mark and her daughter, Eloise.

Research Coordinator

Sara Grossman is a Research Coordinator with the Center for Health Behavior Research. She is involved in the Community Engagement and Research Core (CEAR Core) and the Prostate Cancer Community Engagement, Evaluation and Dissemination Core (Pro-CEED Core). Sara is currently enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania’s Master of Public Health program. She received her Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University with a concentration in global health and a minor in public health. Her previous experience includes research and programmatic work to promote health for underserved communities.

Sheila Kelly, MPH
Research Project Manager

Sheila Kelly is a Research Project Manager with the Recruitment, Outcomes, and Assessment Resource (ROAR) Core at the Abramson Cancer Center. She earned a Masters in Public Health from Boston University, focusing on Social and Behavioral Sciences, and graduated from Brandeis University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and English. Her research interests include social epidemiology, interpersonal violence, urban health, and health disparities. Outside of work, she enjoys running, reading, and cheering for Boston sports.

 

Donna

Donna Paulhamus Giordano, MS, RDN
Research Project Manager

Donna is a Research Project Manager with the Center for Behavior Research and is involved with studies focusing on food environments and their impact on public health.  She is a Registered Dietitian with experience providing clinical nutrition care and managing pediatric research programs.  She earned her Master of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Delaware and her Bachelor of Science in Applied Nutrition from the Pennsylvania State University.  Before coming to CHBR, Donna worked as a Senior Research Associate at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and managed numerous pediatric research studies focusing on bone assessment methods and became a Certified Denistometry Technologist.  Prior to this, she worked as a clinical dietitian providing nutrition care to oncology and critical care patients.  Her interests include nutrition assessment methods, nutrition and health education, disease prevention and hunger and food insecurity.

Research Coordinator

Matthew is a Research Coordinator at the Center for Health Behavior Research. He recently received a Masters degree in Public Health from Temple University, where he also works as a Teaching Assistant. Matthew has a Bachelors of Science in Public Health from Temple University, with a focus on nutrition and health education. Matthew enjoys traveling, cooking, hiking, and weekends at the beach.

Victoria Worthen is a Research Coordinator with the Center for Health Behavior Research. She recently completed her Master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Nutrition from New York University. Victoria has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Princeton University. Her previous experience includes research projects on food insecurity and nutrition education in underserved populations. Outside of work she enjoys running, cooking, reading and trying new restaurants.

Senior Research Coordinator

Alyssa Yackle is a Senior Research Coordinator with the Center for Health Behavior Research. She is currently involved in two CHBR projects - The Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network (CPCRN) and the skin cancer communications research study, Reducing UV Exposure to Prevent Skin Cancer: Message Development and Testing. Alyssa has a bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College in Business and Spanish and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University. She also spent a year in Cuba conducting research and fieldwork to implement the socio-cultural project, Puente de Saberes (Bridge of Knowledge) focusing on the importance of preventative health and intergenerational exchange for senior citizens. Outside of work she enjoys running, crafting, and making cake pops.

Courtney

Courtney Barbera

Courtney Barbera is a Research Assistant at the Center for Health Behavior Research. She is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health degree at The University of Pennsylvania. Courtney received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of New Hampshire, where she was also a member of the NH chapter of the Global Medical Brigades. She hopes to use her global and local public health experiences to work toward the removal of behavioral, social, and structural barriers to health in underserved communities. In her free time, Courtney enjoys exercising, riding her horse, and spending time with family.

 

Olivia

Olivia Duca

Olivia is a senior at James Madison University studying Health Assessment and Promotion and Health Communication. She plans to attend graduate school after graduating in May, 2017 to earn a Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in nutrition and global health. Her interests include obesity prevention and treatment, nutrition education, and minority health and well-being. Olivia enjoys cooking, biking, and running.

Jessica Goldstein

Jessica Goldstein is a Research Assistant with the Center for Health Behavior Research; she is also pursuing her MPH degree at the Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Ithaca College. Jessica is interested in obesity prevention, nutrition, and health education.

 

 

Zhi

Zhi Pan

Zhi Pan is a Research Assistant with the Center for Health Behavior Research, and she is also pursuing a MPH degree at The University of Pennsylvania. She earned her Master of Science in biostatistics from the School of Public Health at Columbia University. Zhi is interested in interdisciplinary research in Health Behavior, and outside of work, she enjoys music, swimming, reading and cooking.

 

 

Ryan

Ryan Quinn

Ryan Quinn is a Research Assistant with the Center for Health Behavior Research. Ryan is currently enrolled in the Master of Public Health program at Temple University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Rowan University. Ryan’s research interests include food access and healthcare access, among other social determinants of health.

Abbey Roepke

Abbey Roepke is a Research Assistant with the Center for Health Behavior Research. Abbey is currently enrolled in a dual degree program at The University of Pennsylvania; pursing a Master of Public Health and a Master’s in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner. Previously, she has received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a graduate certificate in global health. She is interested in bridging her clinical practice with public health to reduce risk factors and improve health outcomes related to cardiovascular disease.
