Training Opportunities
There are ongoing opportunities with the Center for Health Behavior Research for undergraduate and graduate students as well as post-doctoral and junior scientists to engage in health behavior research.
Students (both undergraduate and graduate) will have the opportunity to participate in mentored research projects that relate to mechanisms of health behavior change. Health topics can range from skin cancer prevention, cancer screening and obesity to physical activity and built environment.
The Center for Health Behavior Research participates in the following programs (availability and application deadlines vary):
Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships
Penn Undergraduate Environmental Health Scholars Program
Penn Undergraduate Research Mentoring Program
Summer Undergraduate Minority Research Program
MD/Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (MSCE) degree program
Post-doctoral and junior scientists who are dedicated to a career in health behavior research can expect an interdisciplinary training approach with participation in seminar series and journal clubs as well as opportunities to contribute to grant and manuscript preparation. Trainees will receive mentoring to help with the development of their own independent research. (There are no post-doctoral opportunities currently available. Details will be posted here as opportunities become available.)
Hiring of Student Research Assistants for the academic year begins in late summer for positions starting in the fall and hiring for summer internships begins in spring.
