Clinical Research and Public Health Training Options Offered by the Perelman School of Medicine

The table below is designed to assist clinicians and basic scientists within the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine who seek training or additional, supplemental training in clinical research, bioethics, and/or public health. The training options identified below range from those that provide a brief summary or overview of materials designed to introduce clinicians and basic scientists to the language, methods, and techniques of the field of study, to comprehensive Master's and PhD Degree programs. Two additional tools also have been prepared, designed to identify the different approaches used in clinical research, distinguish each from others, and show the relationships among them. The first tool is in the form of a diagram, designed to demonstrate visually the different approaches available in clinical research, relationships among the different approaches, and the relationship between clinical and bench research (Flash Plug-in required.). The second tool provides a definition of translational research and shows potential career paths for members of translational research teams (Flash Plug-in required.).
