Dr. Kang-Yi’s research aims to improve systems of care for persons with mental illness and their families. She has an extensive experience in the evaluation of publicly funded programs involving children and families in mental health and child welfare systems. Her most recent work focuses on adolescents with mental illness and their transition to adulthood. She is currently the principal investigator for the studies including Development of System-Level Intervention to Improve Outcomes for Transition-Age Youth and Persons with Mental Illness and their Re-entry to Jail, and the co-principal investigator for a study titled Effect of School Therapeutic Services Program on Children’s Behavioral Well-Being and School Achievement. Dr. Kang-Yi received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice and Ph.D. from the Columbia University School of Social Work. She did her postdoctoral fellowship at the Penn Center for Mental Health Policy and Services Research.
