Topical therapies in chronic rhinosinusitis

Traditional management of chronic rhinosinusitis has utilized systemic anti-infective and anti-inflammatory therapies. We were the first to establish an animal model to evaluate topical therapies for the management of rhinosinusitis and significantly helped drive a paradigm shift toward topical therapies. Additionally, we introduced the concept of using topical surfactants for mobilizing inspissated secretions and demonstrated safety of topical steroid douching.
