Penn Genomic Analysis Core

In February 2014 the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM) and the Abramson Cancer Center (ACC) combined two NCI CCSG supported cores, the DNA Sequencing Facility(DSF) and the Molecular Profiling Facility (MPF) as part of a school wide initiative to consolidate core genomic services into one location. The newly configured core is called the Penn Genomic Analysis Core (PGAC). Earlier Tapan Ganguly, PhD, director of the DNA Sequencing Facility, took over as the director of the Genomics Facility from Vivianna Van Deerlin, MD, PhD. Now Dr. Ganguly is the director of the combined core. Adequate steps have been taken for a smooth transition during the merger of the two laboratories with no interruption of services, which will continue as in the past. The enhanced integration will provide more efficient access and clarity of technologies to potential faculty users.

The platforms, capabilities, locations, and technical staff of DSF as well as GF all remain intact. The ACC members and other investigators continue to access the respective facility websites for making online service requests, sample tracking, and data retrieval for DNA sequencing and genomic analyses.
