Behavioral Therapy for Pediatric Trichotillomania Study (PedTTM)

Does your child repetitively pull out their hair?

Does s/he feel unable to control the urge to pull?

This is a study for children and adolescents with Trichotillomania, or compulsive hair pulling. The goal is to test a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) treatment program for children and adolescents who compulsively pull their hair. Participants receive CBT aimed at habit reversal or stress management. Children and adolescents aged 10 through 17 who compulsively pull their hair may be eligible to participate in this study.

This program involves 16 weeks of treatment, followed by check-ins at 3 and 6 months after treatment is finished. Participates will receive a detailed clinical interview and weekly individual treatment with a doctor who specializes in disorders of body-focused repetitive behavior.

This research program is sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health. Treatment is provided at no cost to you
