CPHI Summer Institute on GIS and Public Health

Every summer, the Center for Public Health Initiatives hosts a comprehensive three-day course on the applications of GIS in Public Health Research. By the end of the course, particpants are able to:

  • Understand a broad range of ways that GIS can be applied to public health research, practice, and public policy.
  • Critically Analyze maps and research results developed using GIS
  • Create thematic maps, geocode addresses, and conduct basic queries
  • Implement a variety of field data collection methods used in GIS such as handheld GPS Technology
  • Develop individual research agends which incoroporate GIS methods
