The purpose of the SNAPPS project is to help families in the Norristown area get their children into quality preschool and pediatric services. For many parents, getting health and educational programs for their children, and even themselves, can be a challenge. The information needed to find the programs or health care sites they prefer isn't always easily available. For this reason, the School of Medicine (SOM) and the Graduate School of Education (GSE) of the University of Pennsylvania formed a collaboration to explore the barriers that families face to etting education and health services and to work on reducing those barriers. With the help of our community partners and other related agencies we have started to work on this important problem.
The SNAPPS guide is a broad listing of Norristown area preschool and pediatric facilities. The guide includes information that families told us they needed to make decisions about where to take their kids. We hope this guide will help parents find preschool and pedicartic services that meet their needs. If you have any suggestions on how we can improve this guide please contact us at email@example.com.
PREPPED Kids (Preschool and Pediatric) is an interactive web site which includes all of the information in the SNAPPS guide in a form which may be more user friendly. This web site is also updated to include the most recent information possible. We have also added a text messaging system to the web site which notifies families about events that are important for infants and preschool aged children. Check it out and as always let us know what you think by contacting Alahyo Young by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This project was supported by a pilot grant from the Center for Public Health Initiatives at the University of Pennsylvania.
