Overview of Program

Service Link trains and deploys dedicated student volunteers to the associated clinics serving the low-income population in Philadelphia. Service Link provides an excellent and unique opportunity for students to get experience interacting with patients one-on-one while learning about and engaging in Service Link’s mission to address the social and economic factors driving health outcomes. Other students interested in community service in general and connecting people to welfare benefits are encouraged to join as well.

Service Link is recognized by Civic House and CHAC

Our Students

Undergraduate students actively participate by helping patients apply for welfare benefits (like food stamps, heating assistance, and health care coverage) through an online web portal, set-up specialist appointments over the phone, and assist in other activities to benefit the clinics, like fundraising and outreach. In this way, students are contributing to an essential service, as patients need both medical and social "prescriptions" to heal effectively and holistically.
