Fees and Payment Information
There is a standard fee for the initial, in depth, psychological assessment, which is essential to determine whether our clinic can help the person’s problems.
If it is concluded that our clinic can help the person, there is typically a short wait before the person is being paired with one of the clinic’s therapists. The fee per session is determined for each person. This fee varies based on the length of the session and the credentials of the therapist.
The CTSA accepts only Penn Behavioral Health and Aetna Student Health insurance. We also accept payments for Worker's Compensation on a case by case basis. All other insurances are out of network and hence we do not accept any other insurance plans. We also do not participate in Medicare or Medicaid. Therefore, the majority of our patients are billed directly and pay for their treatment out of pocket. While our fees are generally reimbursable through many insurance plans, please call your insurance provider to find out if your plan reimburses for out-of-network services.
If your insurance will not cover the cost of treatment or if you are uninsured, low cost treatment options are available with our advanced graduate student therapists. Assessment and treatment for research programs is free of charge. Please contact the Center for more information.
Payment for evaluation and/or treatment is due at the time services are rendered. You will be charged the session fee for any missed appointment or any appointments that are cancelled less than 24 hours of the appointment time. This is a policy of the School of Medicine that we are bound to uphold.
The CTSA reserves the right to determine the appropriate level of care (i.e., licensed or unlicensed faculty, or graduate student) for each individual based on our clinical assessment and recommendations for treatment.
Clinical assessments are approximately 2 hours long.
A diagnosis, along with what we believe to be your best treatment options, will be provided at the conclusion of the initial evaluation. If you are interested in seeking treatment at our Center, you will be asked your preferences for the level of therapist and best days/times for appointments. We do our best to accommodate you, but we cannot promise that all preferences can be met.
