Treatment for Specific Phobias at the CTSA

Specific phobias include fear of flying, fear of heights, fear of small animals and insects, etc.

Therapy for specific phobia at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety focuses on education about phobias, anxiety management techniques, exposure to feared sensations and situations, and techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs. Treatment sessions are held weekly. Toward the end of treatment, sessions may be held every other week to allow patients more time to practice the skills learned during therapy. In addition, we have specifically designed a program to help children suffering from phobias.
