Treatment for Teens Traumatized by Sexual Abuse

Research Study: Treating Adolescents with CSA-Related PTSD

About the Project
This is to let you know about a study that is being done in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania on the treatment of problems that teenagers may have after being raped or sexually abused.

Do You Need Treatment?
Have you been raped or sexually abused?

Or, are you the parent or guardian of a teenage girl who has been raped or sexually abused and is experiencing these problems?

About Our Project
If you said yes to some of the above questions, our program may be able to help you. Women Organized Against Rape (WOAR) and the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA) at the University of Pennsylvania have been working together to develop a specialized counseling program for girls aged 13-18 who are experiencing problems after being raped or sexually abused.

Eligibility
Girls interested in participating will be evaluated by counselors from WOAR and CTSA. All evaluation and counseling sessions are completely free of cost to girls who participate in the program. If for some reason we determine that the program is not a good fit for you, appropriate referrals will be made. All girls aged 13-17 must have consent from a parent or guardian in order to participate in the evaluation and in the treatment study.

All counseling takes places at WOAR in Center City, Philadelphia. We are comparing two types of counseling in this program. Both forms of counseling are one-on-one, and have been found useful at decreasing problems related to rape or sexual abuse.

How to Enroll
To learn more about this opportunity, you may give us permission to contact you by signing the attached form. Alternately, you can contact WOAR at 215-985-3333 and ask for Laura, or contact Sara at the University of Pennsylvania at 215-746-3327.
