Research Projects

General Information

Penn's Department of Dermatology has a reputation as one of the best research departments in the world and is investigating many basic science and clinical research topics.  There are many ways that students can become involved with these projects.  Check out the faculty research interests using the links below, and try contacting a faculty member whose research interests match your own.

You can also contact Dr. Steve Fakharzadeh (Basic Science Research Advisor) or Dr. Joel Gelfand (Clinical Research Advisor) to ask for research advice.

Presentation Opportunities

Student Research Presentations
Student Research Presentations can be given intermittently at Duhring Grand Rounds. These short five-minute presentations are designed to give students the opportunity to present their research in front of the department of dermatology at other dermatologists from the community. It is also an opportunity for those physicians to hear about areas of research and science that are not a part of their everyday practice. Talk to one of the chief residents if you are interested in giving a presentation about your research, be it clinical or basic science.
