Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania

The Office for Diversity
and Community Outreach in Undergraduate Medical Education

The Perelman School of Medicine appointed Dr. Helen O. Dickens as Associate Dean for Minority Affairs thereby making her the first in the country. Under her leadership, the Office for Minority Affairs was established in 1968 to recruit and retain minority students who are underrepresented in medicine. The Office, now called the Office for Diversity and Community Outreach in Undergraduate Education preserves this commitment. We welcome you to our web site to learn about our students, our school and our recruitment efforts.
