Welcome to the DRU

Mission

The mission of the Depression Research Unit (DRU) at Penn is to foster a greater understanding and knowledge of the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of mood disorders. As one of the first depression specialty clinics in the United States, for more than 40 years the DRU has been at the forefront of clinical research on the etiology of depression and the development of new and more effective antidepressant treatments.

Purpose

The DRU has served as a rich resource for studies on depression and bipolar disorder with collaborative research projects conducted with colleagues throughout the US and around the world. Doctors on the DRU have evaluated and treated thousands of patients with mood disorders in research studies. For more information about DRU programs, or to schedule an appointment for a confidential evaluation, please call (215) 662-3462 on weekdays between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
