The Robert and Margarita Louis-Dreyfus Professorship of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and Lymphoma Clinical Care and Research

Margarita Louis-DreyfusThe Professorship was established in 2010 by Margarita Louis-Dreyfus in gratitude for the care provided to her husband Robert by the Abramson Cancer Center.

Robert Louis-Dreyfus (1946–2009) was a European businessman who was well-known as a turnaround specialist for his rescue of Adidas and Saatchi & Saatchi. At the end of his career, here turned to and led Louis-Dreyfus, the historic and still family-owned business that holds a variety of companies, including one of the largest commodities firms in the world. Currently, Margarita Louis-Dreyfus is the Chairperson of Louis-Dreyfus as well as President of the Louis Dreyfus Foundation, which was established in 2013 to address global issues of sustainable agriculture and food security.

Stephen J. Schuster, MD

Stephen J. Schuster, MD is the Robert and Margarita Louis-Dreyfus Professor of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and Lymphoma Clinical Care and Research, and Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also the Director of the Lymphoma Program and Director of Lymphoma Translational Research at the Abramson Cancer Center.

After graduating AOA from Jefferson Medical College and completing his residency at Pennsylvania Hospital, Dr. Schuster completed clinical and research fellowships at the Cardeza Foundation for Hematologic Research. In 1989, he became a member of the Cardeza Foundation at Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Schuster joined the University of Pennsylvania in 1998. Since then, his research has focused on the development and application of novel immunotherapies for B-cell lymphomas and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, including autologous tumor-derived vaccines, autologous co-stimulated T-cells, radioimmunotherapy, monoclonal antibody therapy and adoptive immunotherapy using chimeric antigen receptor-modified T-cells.
