Faculty and Research

The research of the Department of Genetics spans all of the major areas of modern genetics, including functional genomics, genome sequencing, mammalian development, the metabolic bases for inhertited human disease, gene therapy, gene structure and expression, mechanisms of replication and repair, DNA recombination, somatic cell genetics, cytogenetics, bioinformatics, and developmental genetics of model eukaryotic systems such as the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, the nematode worm Caenorhabditis elegans, the baker's yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and the mouse Mus musculus.
