Hello from Hall-Mercer Child and Parent Center!
We are busy making plans for our Spring Semester, which runs from Monday, April 1st through Friday, June 7th. Check out the schedule on our website to find out more about our upcoming programs:
First Friends
Babies, toddlers, and young children love to spend time socializing with each other as they make their “First Friends” at Hall-Mercer Child and Parent Center. All our discussion and playgroups include snack-time, music, stories, and songs, as well as time for parents to enjoy relaxing with each other, sharing experiences, and making new friends. Descriptions of each group are below:
Exploring Parenthood I and II
Exploring Parenthood I and II are discussion groups for first-time parents with infants from six weeks up to six months of age. The groups are facilitated by professionals with experience in newborn care, infant development, and adjustment to parenthood. Parents gain information and support to enable them to feel more confident in their parenting role. There is time for informal discussions and for parents and babies to enjoy a variety of baby games, stories, and songs.
Creepers/Crawlers, Cruisers, and Explorers
Creepers/Crawlers, Cruisers, and Explorers playgroups will enjoy exploring our developmentally stimulating play-space along with snacktime, music, stories and songs. Parents will have time to create new friendships and share experiences with other parents in their community. The groups are facilitated by professionals with experience in child development and adjustment to parenthood. Parents will have the opportunity to get their questions answered, discuss topics of interest, and learn how to nurture their child’s development. Explorers groups will also visit our private rooftop playground, where they can dig in the sandbox, enjoy the sunshine, and climb in the playhouse with their friends.
Toddlers and Terrific Twos
For Toddlers and Terrific Twos playgroups, children will enjoy exploring our developmentally stimulating play-space as well as more structured activities like cooking projects, snacktime, art projects, storytime, musical instruments, books, songs and imaginative play activities. Toddlers and Twos will also visit our private rooftop playground, where they can ride scooters and trikes, dig in the sandbox, and climb in the playhouse with their friends.
Parents will have time to create new friendships and share experiences with other parents in their community. The groups are facilitated by professionals with experience in child development and adjustment to parenthood. Parents will have the opportunity to get their questions answered, discuss topics of interest, and learn how to nurture their child’s development.
Your Younger Baby
Your Younger Baby is specifically for families with more than one child. We focus on issues related to parenting siblings and discuss how to encourage positive sibling relationships and manage the additional demands that come with parenting more than one child. There is time for play activities, snack, stories, and songs. The group is scheduled to allow parents ample time to drop off and pick up older siblings at preschool.
