Hello from Hall-Mercer Child & Parent Center!

We are busy making plans for our Fall Semester, which runs from Monday, September 10th through Friday, December 14th. Check out the schedule on our website to find out more about our upcoming programs:

First Friends

Babies, toddlers, and young children love to spend time socializing with each other as they make their “First Friends” at Hall-Mercer Child and Parent Center. All our playgroups include snack-time, music, stories, and songs, as well as time for parents to enjoy relaxing with each other, sharing experiences, and making new friends.

Exploring Parenthood I and II

Exploring Parenthood I and II are discussion groups for first-time parents with infants from six weeks up to six months of age. The groups are facilitated by professionals with experience in newborn care, infant development, and adjustment to parenthood. Parents gain information and support to enable them to feel more confident in their parenting role. There is time for informal discussions and for parents and babies to enjoy a variety of baby games, stories, and songs.

Creepers/Crawlers, Cruisers
, and Explorers

Creepers/Crawlers, Cruisers, and Explorers playgroups will enjoy exploring our developmentally stimulating play-space along with snacks, music, stories and songs. Parents will have the opportunity to get their questions answered, share experiences, and learn how to nurture their child’s development. For Explorers, we will also offer time to visit our private rooftop playground, where children can play in the sandbox, ride scooters, and climb in the playhouse.

For Toddlers and Terrific Two’s

For Toddlers and Terrific Twos playgroups, children will enjoy exploring our developmentally stimulating play-space as well as more structured activities like cooking projects, snacks, art projects, story-time, musical instruments, books, songs and imaginative play activities. We will also offer time to visit our private rooftop playground, where children can play in the sandbox, ride scooters and bikes, and climb in the playhouse. Parents will enjoy getting to know new friends from their community and discussing their questions and concerns with their group members and facilitator.

Parents of Preschoolers

The Parents of Preschoolers group is a parents-only discussion group for parents whose children are currently attending preschool. We will address questions and concerns about preschooler development, behavior, socialization with other children, and other preschool-related issues. Parents will have time to talk to each other, ask questions of the facilitator, and discuss topics of interest each week.

Your Younger Baby

Your Younger Baby is specifically for families with more than one child. We focus on issues related to parenting siblings and discuss how to encourage positive sibling relationships and manage the additional demands that come with parenting more than one child. There is time for play activities, snack, stories, and songs. The group is scheduled to allow parents ample time to drop off and pick up older siblings at preschool.
