Clinical Training

The 2024-2025 Internship application process is now OPEN.  

We are currently accepting applications for Interns to begin September of 2024. 

Hall-Mercer Community Mental Health Center provides comprehensive outpatient services to Philadelphia residents in need. Hall-Mercer provides a range of services for children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. 

This internship is open to second year graduate students in a master’s level program studying counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, and art therapy, who aspire to be mental healh clinicians upon graduation.  

Hall Mercer trainees will have the opportunity to train within different programs across Hall Mercer. These are called clinic rotations. Each semester you will have the opportunity to be placed in 1-2 clinic rotations to expand your clinical experience. Possible clinical rotation could include intake clinics, social rehabilitation groups, drug, and alcohol support groups, and co-facilitating groups in an inpatient setting. While these clinic rotations may be available, the primary focus of this internship is to provide outpatient therapy services to prepare you for post-grad clinical work.  

Trainees will be expected to:  

  • Participate in weekly individual supervision.  
  • Participate in a weekly group supervision. 
  • Participate in assigned clinic rotations.  
  • Maintain a caseload of 8-10 child,family, and adult therapy clients.   
  • Maintain clinical documentation- progress notes, treatment plans, safety plans, etc.  

Additionally, we can only accommodate students who are available during our regular business hours, generally 8am- 6pm, Monday through Friday. Selected interns are expected to be onsite on Mondays for group supervision.

Application submissions will be accepted until Friday, February 16th. Interviews will occur at the end of February and candidates will be selected in March.
