The Geffen Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania studies how we hear and how we form memories of sounds.

RESEARCH

We study the neuronal circuits for auditory perception and learning. Our research is supported by public agencies and private foundations.

METHODS

Our methods span the entire systems neuroscience toolbox, from two-photon Calcium imaging of neuronal activity to behavioral and computational approaches.

PUBLICATIONS

We recently identified a novel circuit for detecting unexpected sounds and built a computational model of the auditory cortex.
