Research Description: My main research interest is to better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying myeloid cell-cell fusion and the role of multinucleated syncytia in the pathogenesis of granulomatous inflammation and HIV infection. Specifically, I am exploring how macrophages and dendritic cells achieve fusion competency by identifiyng novel fusion associated molecules that control motility, cell-cell recognition, and membrane fusion.
