Research Interests: Autoimmunity, Cancer Immunology, Transplantation and Tolerance, Cell and Developmental Biology of the Immune System
Research Description: Most of my immunological research experience involves flowering plant signal transduction directly downstream of salicylic acid, the hormone and master regulator of the non-innate plant immune system. My research in plant immunology extended my interests to animal immunology, which I know hope to study in great depth to broaden my perspectives of immune system variation in the context of evolution. Was immunity essential to the establishment and expansion of early life forms? Was it a prerequisite to multicellularity? I ultimately wish to study and research the evolution of immunity as a theoretical immunologist.
