Terumo BCT, a global company specializing in blood component and cellular technologies, has announced the launch of the Blood Safety Innovation Award. The international award program is designed to support scientific and clinical research leading to new advances in blood safety in hematology, immunology, and other related fields. The program is intended to encourage the investigation of novel scientific ideas and new concepts, procedures, and/or methodologies that have the potential to substantially advance blood safety for the benefit of patients in need of transfusion support.
Clinicians, researchers, and scientists at academic institutions and associations who are interested in blood safety across all device platforms are encouraged to submit expressions of interest. Entries from anywhere in the world are welcome from all fields, including but not limited to hematology and immunology. Through the 2013 program, Terumo BCT will award $100,000 to one recipient or a number of smaller grants totaling up to $100,000 to multiple recipients.
