RESEARCH INTERESTS

Intrinsic membrane proteins of the neuronal Golgi apparatus; involvement of the organelle in the pathogenesis of motor neuron disease

RESEARCH TECHNIQUES

A variety of methods of cell and molecular biology; tissue and cell culture, generation of antibody probes, immunoelectron microscopy, isolation of intrinsic membrane proteins of the Golgi apparatus, and application of methods of recombinant DNA and other molecular techniques for the further structural and functional characterization of novel membrane proteins of the Golgi apparatus.

RESEARCH SUMMARY

Cell and molecular biology of the Golgi apparatus. The involvement of the Golgi apparatus in motor neuron disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease).

KEY WORDS:
Membrane proteins; Golgi apparatus
