The Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy Welcomes Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel

The Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy and the Center for Bioethics in the Perelman School of Medicine welcome Zeke Emanuel, MD, PhD, as the new department chair as of September 1, 2011. In addition to this new post, Dr. Emanuel has been appointed as the Diane v.S. Levy and Robert M. Levy University Professor and Vice Provost for global initiatives. He is the 13th Penn Integrates Knowledge University Professor.
"The University of Pennsylvania is tremendously fortunate to have attracted to our faculty one of the most insightful and well-respected bioethicists of our time," said University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutmann. "Zeke Emanuel is an eminent scholar, a passionate teacher, a collaborative leader and a tireless public servant. He has time and again demonstrated the vital importance of putting the broadest and deepest ethical understandings to work in service of others."
